Buffalo + Plex Firmware 1.68-Orca released for Windows

By 2014-10-08 November 17th, 2014 Buffalo + Plex

The first release of the Buffalo Linkstation + Plex Media Server firmware was made available. Currently it is only for Windows, the Mac installer is in progress.

You can download this firmware at the bottom of the project page.

This release is called Orca in honor of the developer of the Samsung TV Plex application. Without his Plex client on my TV, I wouldn’t have started this project.

Send your feedback to the Plex support forum. Currently the topic about this firmware is under Third Party Clients / Other.

Gary, I did the 1.68 update as instructed, but the PLEX option under Media Server was not added. Was there anything else I needed to do to make that option appear? Thanks.

Hi Gonzalo, thanks for trying Buffalo + Plex. Please check the version number of your NAS, on the left side after logon to the web interface. It should say 1.68-Orca. If that is the case, try resetting your NAS settings. If you are uncomfortable doing that, then please wait and I’ll try to recreate your situation on my test device.

I left a comment with picture on the PLex forums on the post you made.

Found it, thanks. It seems you have the Orca version, so next step is resetting the NAS settings. I can do that later this evening on my test equipment, I’ll get back to you with my findings.

    Hello Gary,
i met some issues on the lastest version, is that possible that you share the 1.68 firmware again? thanks.

really appreciate for your response. i’m using a tool called Xunlei from China and which stop running without any clue since i upgrade to 1.69 according to your post “TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS”, looks like Buffalo changed around some of its libraries. so i thought this might be the problem. that’s why i want to fallback to the older version. anyway, thanks a lot 😉

Sounds like it. These security upgrades are also affecting the optware binaries, so eventually we won’t be able to use the pre-compiled binaries that work on every other ARM device. 🙁
